SpeechEasy

The Aspen Center is a retail provider of the fluency enhancing device, SpeechEasy.

For detailed information about the SpeechEasy device you can go to
www.speecheasy.com.

SpeechEasy General Information

An evaluation typically takes three hours to complete. During this time we will assess your speech patterns by doing some reading and conversation tasks. After that we will try out a SpeechEasy device and see what sort of changes in your speech patterns occur. We will also let you take the device out of the office for about an hour so that you can try it out in the “real world” environment. Once you come back from that, we will decide if we should move forward with ordering a device.

The device cost ranges from $4100 to $4900, depending on which version you choose. You will have an evaluation model placed and we will review features of the different device to determine which device will be more suitable for you. You may also visit the website www.speecheasy.com for more information about specific device features.

You will also have to have a hearing test completed and a mold may also be needed depending on which device you prefer.  We can refer you to a qualified Audiologist here in the Raleigh area, if needed.

Once we have a completed evaluation, ear impressions (if needed) and full payment for the device has been received, we can have your device ordered.  If a comfort fit style is ordered an impression will not be necessary. Typically, it takes four weeks to get the device back from the manufacturer.

The assessment fee is currently $350 and is due on the day of the evaluation.
Your insurance may cover portions of this process and we will provide an invoice for you documenting procedure and cost. Other funding sources may be available as well (Vocational Rehabilitation, various civic organizations, etc, etc) and you may want to look into these further.
